Jordy Smith is no stranger to the stress and pressure of competitions. Traveling the globe relentlessly and competing with the best surfers in the world is how he makes his living. What are Jordy's thoughts on the future of competitive surfing? What will it take to be a contender in the years to come?

Currently sitting in the top 5 of the World Surf League, Jordy continues to push the boundaries of the sport with his athletic approach to surfing. From creative aerials to slashing, powerful turns, Jordy remains one of the best competition and free surfers in the world.

As part of O’Neill’s recently dropped UNREASONABLE campaign, we catch-up with Jordy on the runway of Honolulu, Hawaii (shot during December’s Triple Crown) to get his vision on what’s next within this dynamic and constantly evolving sport.


When and how did you start doing your sport? At the age of 15 I won a junior world title.

How did you become a part of O’Neill? Though winning contests and following my dream..

What makes you unreasonable? The things I do differently.

What has been a highlight in your career? The whole thing !!! I still can't believe I get paid to go and do something I love.

What are your plans for the future? Winning the World Title

Name 10 things you never travel without? Clothing, passport, surfboards, computer, phone, wife.

What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning? The beautiful day ahead.. and waves.

If we visited you at breakfast, what would you be eating? Bacon and eggs.

If you weren’t surfing, what would you do? Surfboard Shaper.

Any other sports you’re good at? I love all sports.

What music are you listening to? It depends on the mood I'm in.

What has been the scariest moment in your sport career? I almost drowned in Tahiti.

What was your most embarrassing moment in your career/life? None,all lessons

How does your training routine look like? Somedays I push hard others I relax... Balance .

Describe your perfect day? There is none.. Cause if I had it everyday I would be bored.
