Well guess what? We have another Lopez brother coming your way. Yes there is the ASP stalwart Shea Lopez and legendary waterman, former WCT warrior, and T'eahupoo charger Cory Lopez. Now we have the youngest brother, Matty Lopez, following in their footsteps.
Surfing and surfing runs deep in the Lopez family gene pool. They are truly watermen and Matty is no different. He surfs as many hours a day as humanly possible, loves to travel, is excited about competition, and is also beginning to enjoy charging the bigger stuff. These are the ingredients that are required to reach the top levels of the sport. Matty has taken note from his elder brothers from an early age, and is ready to put this learned knowledge into a run at a pro career.
With that said he is a stoked grom who loves to surf and the adventure of surfing is the biggest motivator for him. Here's a little Q and A to find out more about Matty Lopez.
O'Neill: What are your goals in surfing?
Matty: To surf as hard as I can, and one day make it on tour.
O: Describe a perfect day for you?
Matty: Wake up, surf barrels, eat Pajanos.
O: If you didn't surf what would you do?
Matty: Fish
O: Who do you surf with most of the time?
Matty: Tayler Brothers, Joey Presscott, Danny Murray, and Marc Schwartz, and Mike Williams
O: Are you home schooled or go to high school?
Matty: High school
O: What inspires you and why?
Matty: Watching my brothers over the years surfing, because it shows me what I have to go through to get on tour.
