Fighting Fear, staring O'Neill big wave surfer Mark Mathews along with his best friend Ritchie Vas, will start its European showing in Biarritz tomorrow (Friday) night following resounding success in their native Australia.
"It is an amazing experience to tour with this film," said Mark Mathews after the World premiere in Sydney. "Seeing us on the big screen was pretty weird. It's not just a surf film or a fight film. People walk in expecting that and have all been pleasantly surprised. It's a lot more than that and there are so many ups and downs it almost exhausting for me to watch"
The feature length documentary Fighting Fear gives a personal insight into both Mark and Richie - two world-class athletes in sports with deadly consequences, and how their friendship has helped bring them through the extreme challenges they have faced. It is no ordinary surf movie.
Following the first European showing in Biarritz, the boys will tour Europe along with friend, film director, editor and filmer, Macario De Souza (Kid Mac). They will attend not only the movie, but also the after party where movie-goers will have added bonus of having Kid Mac DJ to entertain.
The European-wide tour starts in Biarritz on November 18th before heading to Peniche in Portugal for a premiere at the Surf Castle. The boys then travel to Hamburg, Germany for the 24th November. The following night, the 25th they will be in The Hague, in the Netherlands, the 26th they're in Belgium, the 28th they hit Leicester Square in London for the big UK premiere. The 30th of November the boys are in Prague the grand finale finds them in Paris on December 8th.
