O’Neill Wake The Line " 2013 kicks off

The hype surrounding this event is palpable and in its sixth year „O'Neill Wake The Line" has kicked off in bigger and better style than ever before. With the best rail, kicker and Quarter Pipe hitters in the world descending on the heart of the worlds cable capital Cologne, the level of riding from the get go was a step above again.

„O'Neill Wake The Line 2013" sees the new additions of  kicker and Quarter Pipe contests to the schedule getting action going and the crowds pouring in through the "Stadionbad" arena doors a day earlier for an even bigger and legendary wakeboarding party weekend. Come Friday afternoon after a few days of practice for the wakeboard and wakeskate elite to get dialed in, "O'Neill Wake The Line" 2013 was on, with the local masses witnessing some of the most progressive System 2.0 riding ever witnessed courtesy of the brand new and improved UNIT Parktech setup.

Starting off on the brand new and extended "Relentless Energy Drink" Quarter Pipe, a "Who's Who" of rail riding made up the 15 invited Quarter Pipe athletes working their way through to the final of three – BRENTON PRIESTLEY, MITCH LANGFIELD and Germany's own NICO VON LERCHENFELD. It took the biggest of airs in excess of six foot out the lip of this huge Pipe from Aussie born BRENTON PRIESTLEY, not content with the air alone - adding a cab mute 360 to take the first ever "O'Neill Wake The Line" Quarter Pipe honours.Left wanting, the riders and crowd alike made their way back to the stadium seating surrounding this wake and skate playground to get bouncing to the first of two live music performances "FLO MEGA" on the main stage, while the wakeboard kicker hitters readied themselves for the big air finale of the first day of festivities.

Once again 15 of the best lined themselves up to attack one of the three UNIT Parktech XL kickers, having in mind the most tech, progressive and innovative of moves to take the last of the titles for this first "O'Neill Wake The Line" Friday. Doubles seem to be the trick of choice amongst the riding elite these days but true to "O'Neill Wake The Line" ethos, the array of wakeboarding progression in every direction present in the sport was on display for all to see. Double Half Cabs, the "Bredda's" own Ole Mobe 7, Henshaw mid grab TS Backside spins, the over tweak big stalls of SUYDERHOUD, the intensity and aggro of RATHY and RAPH combined all had jaws on the floor and keen for more. It was only fitting then that the first ever world class kicker contest from Cologne saw a solid mix of all styles on the podium RAPH DEROME, AARON RATHY and KAESEN SUYDERHOUD making it a one, two, three. Rounded off by the long anticipated trailer preview of "The Debut" and the second live music performance by "The Orsons"  "O'Neill Wake The Line presented by Relentless Energy Drink" 2013 is just getting started!
