Leander Vyvey

Leander was born on the 21st of December 1989. He was the first child of Jan Vyvey and Chantal Claes. Leander had always been a very energetic, inquisitive boy.Through his dad, he got to know watersports and started sailing at the age of 6.Later he discovered surfing and was one of the first youngsters to start kitesurfing at his local surfspot called Windekind "Child of the Wind".
He started on an ancient foil kite and handles.

Last week I was in Dakhla for the 3rd last stop of the KPWT world cup. Even though my knee is a little injured I took part to the contest and managed to even get a good result. In freestyle I became 2nd and managed to get a podium place for sliders!
For the previous last stop of the KPWT tour we moved to Céara, Brazil in the famous kite village called Cumbuco.
I was very unlucky to meet the current number 1 in my first heat. He landed kiteloop slimchance 7 (double airpass!) and some other amazing tricks!
Luckly the doubles were better for me. I managed to win 6 heats and also beated Peter Tuyskevich which might mean I will be 1st on the overall freestyle ranking now!
