Jean Jacques Roux
French freestyle snowboarder Jean-Jacques Roux has been blowing minds over the past couple of seasons, showing the world what he's made of not only in parks and pipes, but also in the backcountry. Haviing grown up with the Southern French Alps on his doorstep, the young Frenchman has had the perfect playground in which to develop his snow skills. Now armed with one of the biggest bag of tricks in the game, Jean-Jaques can be seen stomping trick after trick across Europe. Jean-Jacques decided to spend some time riding in North America last year, allowing him to take his riding to the next level in the perfectly groomed parks of California. Outside of conquering the world of international snowboarding and competing on the TTR tour, Jean-Jacques has his sights set on retiring to live in a nice big house with a beautiful girl on his arm. Cheers to that!
- What was the highlight of your year?
Not getting injured! Well at least not until right at the end! At the end of the season I broke my back - I compressed two bones in my back. I landed on my ass on an icy kicker. If you can imagine falling from 4 meters onto an icy kicker - I couldn't move. I had two weeks off snowboarding but I think it will take a few months before it's properly ok again.
- Any big plans for 2009/10 season?
I am working on a great video project - HARAKIRI - next season. The concept is old vs young. I am in the old crew. We're filming all next season with friends so it should be fun. I will also do a few competitions like O'Neill Evolution, Poney Session and a few more.
- What would be your perfect getaway?
Probably on an island paragliding and camping in the trees. I would also love to go to South America and go trekking - there is so much stuff I want to do.
