Luis Eyre

Luis Eyre

Biography:

Luis Eyre is a difficult guy to pin down. After spending his first years on planet earth in the UK, the English lad with the foreign-sounding name moved to Portugal in 2002. Only a couple of days after he'd settled into his new home, Luis paddled out for the first time at Carcavelos when he was only 10 years old. A naturally gifted sportsman, Luis was once part of the youth training schemes at Manchester City and Benfica. After taking to surfing like a duck to water, Luis gave up on his footballing ambitions so he could focus all of his energy on his newly-discovered passion for surfing. Before too long, Luis had caught the attention of one of the region's best surf coaches, and he's been working hard with him ever since to ensure he'll be able to enjoy a long and successful professional surfing career. In 2005, Luis began home schooling via the internet so that he could manage his time more effectively and spend even more hours surfing and training. Today, Luis continues to split much of his time between the UK and Portugal thus benefiting from the different training methods and conditions to which he's exposed. In addition to winning a handful of British and English titles, Luis is equally pumped about getting more opportunities to travel all over the world to surf, including his all-time favorite destination of Hawaii. This year, Luis is planning to challenge for various English, British and European titles and will also be hoping to secure a spot on the British national team ahead of the ISA World Games.
