O'Neill wakeboarder Jorge Gill has won the British Wakeboarding Championships 2009 in the Boys Division.
Even more impressively, his victory comes just two weeks after crashing badly and knocking himself out.
"Two weeks ago I didn't know what planet I was on," said Jorge. "After my crash I thought I would be out for the rest of the season, I am so happy to have come back so quick and won it, it feels great," he said.
Jorge had injured himself on July 4th after crashing on a Whirlybird trick at the British Open Nationals.
"I knocked myself out and was taken to the hospital with concussion," he said. "I had to pull out of Wakestock the following weekend."
13-year-old Jorge Gill got back on his board about a week before the British Youth Nationals – and took top spot ahead of some of the best young riders in Europe. He will now continue to train for the European championships in Portugal in 2 weeks time.
"Winning this competition has given me a big boost for the
Euro championships in Portugal," said Jorge.
CONGRATULATIONS AND GOOD LUCK!
