Fabian Fassnacht
Fabian Fassnacht is part of Switzerland's next generation of progressive freestyle shredders. With the achievements of established Swiss pros like Gian Simmen, Nicolas Mueller and Frederik Kalbermatten to live up to, the responsibility of picking up that Swiss freestyle baton is no small undertaking. And for this young and talented rider from Thalwil, the opportunity to forge a long and successful career in the freestyle scene is all he's ever dreamed of. Despite only recently joining O'Neill's European snowboard team, Fabian has already made a big impression on his teammates thanks to his versatile riding performances and technical ability in the air. Promising results in a number of Big Air contests across Europe over the course of the last few seasons have laid the foundations for Fassnacht to move his pro career up a few gears, and you can bet your bottom dollar he'll be giving it his all whenever and wherever he straps in.
Q: What's the best thing about riding for a living?
A: It's sick to be able to do what you love to do for a living.
Q: Who do you enjoy riding with the most, and why?
A: David Djité. It's always fun to ride with him - good times!
Q: Other than home, where is your favorite place to ride, and why?
A: Livigno. It's just amazing how perfectly shaped that park is. And there are some real nice parties in town after the riding is over for the day!
Q: What are your main goals and plans for the next 12 months?
A: I'm focussed on nailing my movie part and improving my riding skills.
Q: How do you see your sport evolving in the next few years?
A: That's really hard to say. I think there'll be a lot of new tricks, and maybe we'll see some totally new obstacles to ride. It would be cool to see some pipes incorporating spine transfers, and other things like that.
Q: Have you got any plans to film a new video part, and if yes, with which film company?
A: Yep, I'll be filming with the crew from La Famiglia.
Q: What do you do for fun when you are not riding?
A: I like to play guitar, skate and travel!
Q: What achievement are you most proud of so far in your career?
A: I hope to answer that question next year with: "my video part".
Q: If you didn't ride for a living, what would you have liked to be doing now for an occupation?
A: I'd probably be playing in a rockband and trying to get famous. Hahaha!
Q: What trick do you enjoy the most?
A: Frontside 360.
