Steve Krijbolder

Steve Krijbolder

Biography:

Steve Krijbolder is a young freestyle rider who enjoys making dramatic entrances. The Dutchman did exactly that when he announced his arrival on the global snowboarding stage with a third place finish in the Quarterpipe contest at the O'Neill Evolution 2009. The event in question was the first maximum rated TTR World Tour contest in which Krijbolder had competed, and it's fair to say his podium place forced more than a few people to sit up and take notice. Requiring balls of steel and plenty of technical riding ability, QP riding is not for faint-hearted and Steve has repeatedly proven that he is up to the task. Following his impressive showing in Davos, Krijbolder has since competed in a number of other top-flight QP contests including the world-renowned Billabong Air & Style event. Krijbolder's incredible achievements in snowboarding are all the more remarkable given the fact he grew up in the flatlands of The Netherlands. If anything, Steve is living proof of the fact you can't hold raw talent back. Keep an eye on this entertaining transition conqueror as he continues to fix the TTR World Tour and FIS World Cup circuits in his sights.

Q: What has been the biggest highlight of the past 12 months for you?
A: I got 3rd in the quarterpipe contest at last year's O'Neill Evolution. I was super stoked with that result!

Q: What's the best thing about riding for a living?
A: Having a great time, meeting new people, riding and visiting some of the best spots in the world.

Q: Who do you enjoy riding with the most, and why?
A: Rocco van Straten and Dimi de Jong! They're always stoked to step up and throw down!

Q: Other than home, where is your favorite place to ride, and why?
A: We don't have any mountains where I live in The Netherlands, but we do have one of those indoor slopes only 5 minutes from my house in Zoetermeer - that's always fun to ride! Other than that, I think my favorite place to ride is Davos. It's a cool place and the main park is located down near the town, that's sick!

Q: What are your main goals and plans for the next 12 months?
A: I want to keep having fun and getting better, and hopefully I can also keep competing on the TTR and FIS World Cup tours.

Q: How do you see your sport evolving in the next few years?
A: I have no clue. The double corks are here to stay now, so maybe triples are next.

Q: Have you got any plans to film a new video part, and if yes, with which film company?
A: I'm not filming that much, although I did film a little last year with my board sponsor, Nitro.

Q: What do you do for fun when you are not riding?
A: I really like to wakeboard in the summer. It's also nice to chill out on the beach when the weather is good!

Q: What achievement are you most proud of so far in your career?
A: I'm stoked to be on the Dutch national team! What else? I got through to the finals at the O'Neill Evolution, the Burton New Zealand Open and the Burton European Open, and I was also invited to compete at the Air & Style in Innsbruck!

Q: If you didn't ride for a living, what would you have liked to be doing now for an occupation?
A: Hahaha, I think I would have to be a supermodel!

Q: What trick do you enjoy the most?
A:  Cab 9 on jumps and back-to-back 7s in the pipe!
