Surfing has been ingrained in Malia's blood since she was born. At the age of two, Malia started surfing with her parents, catching waves along the beaches of Kauai. Growing up in Hawaii, she has been highly influenced by iconic surfers, making her style fluid and graceful, yet incredibly progressive. Malia is 100% Aloha! She fully embraces her culture, including a love for the ocean.
LEADING BY EXAMPLE
In 2008 Malia took the world by surprise and dominated the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, California, becoming the youngest female U.S Open Champion at just 14 years old. Since then Malia has continued to influence the female surfing progression by placing 1st in the US Open Pro Junior in 2009, claiming the cover of TransWorld Surf Magazine in 2011, becoming champion of both the Azores Islands and Pantin Spain WQS 6-star events, and earning the top qualifier spot for the elite ASP Women's World Tour in 2012.
Malia is filled with passion, striking good looks, and all the natural talent needed to be the best surfer in the world. While she loves competing, she is going to do it her way, with a huge smile on her face and the grace of a Hawaiian dancer. True surfers do it to have fun, not for the glory. She does it because she loves it. "I never planned on being a professional surfer, it kind of chose me," said Malia.
