Guilherme Moreira Gato Ribeiro
When and how did you start doing your sport?
I start surfing when I was 4 years old. I started because I saw my dad surfing and my old brother was starting to take the first steps.
When did you decide to become a pro?
Well, that was naturally as I began to learn and then to enter competitions.
How did you become a part of O’Neill?
When I was 11 years old, the local portuguese representative of O'Neill (Nuno Santos) saw me in competition/ free surf and invited me to be part of the junior team in Portugal.
What has been a highlight in your career?
Last year (2017) I won the Rip Curl Grom Search European Final in Hossegor and this year (2018) I will represent Portugal and Europe at the Global Final of the RCGS.
What are your plans for the future?
I'm focused on trying to do a lot of surf, improving and get to the WCT one day. But I also have a lot of desire to travel the world in search of good and new waves
Name 10 things you never travel without?
My wetsuits, boards, fins, leashes, wax, clothes, tooth brush, phone, headphones and money.
What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?
Catch good waves of course!
If we visited you at breakfast, what would you be eating?
Cereals, açai, eggs and fruit.
If you weren’t surfing, what would you do?
I like to stay with my fiends, see movies and cooking.
Any other sports you’re good at?
Soccer and table tennis.
What has been the scariest moment in your sport career?
I didn't have one yet.
Describe your perfect day.
Pass all day surfing good waves with the friends.
